So how did the ALS challenge get started?

According to NY CBS Local: WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond reported, it got its start among golfers as a way to support pet charities. Pro Chris Kennedy challenged his cousin Jeanette Senerchia, of Pelham, whose husband Anthony suffers from ALS. “And I wrote him back, and I was like, ‘Are you joking? I really need to do this? How about if I just donate themoney?’ And they said, ‘No, just do it. It’ll be fun,'” Senerchia said. Senerchia then nominated some of her friends. The rest is history. {read more here}

And just this month Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez  got it started it on social media.
