Okay here’s what the snap on the
officer being arrest report O. Mail:
“State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby just announced SIX police officers will
be charged in his death.
This is the first officer to be pictured out of the six cops charged over
the death of Freddie Gray.
Officer Edward Nero, 29, is facing 10 years in jail for allegedly
assaulting the 25-year-old before he suffered a severe spine injury and died.
The married father-of-one, who is also charged with misconduct in public
office, joined the Baltimore Police Department in 2012.
He will face trial alongside five colleagues, whose charges range from
assault to manslaughter and murder, after the Maryland State's Attorney,
Marilyn Mosby, declared Gray's death was a homicide, and there is probable
cause to file criminal charges. On Friday, Mosby announced that evidence shows
the six officers 'illegally' detained Gray on April 12 for the lawful
possession of a knife, not a switchblade as cops previously reported.
Her report states Gray sustained his fatal neck injury by being shackled
in the back of the police van without a seat belt - a move that violated the
police rules of conduct.
In an astonishing revelation, Mosby said the blade for which Gray was
arrested was not found until after he was detained.
The officers face charges including murder, manslaughter and assault.
Five of them are already in custody, according to Baltimore Mayor Stephanie
Rawlings-Blake.
The driver of the van, Officer Caesar Goodson, 45, has been charged with
second-degree depraved heart murder, which carries a 30-year jail term.
Depraved heart murder is often described as wanton or wilful killing. It
means the defendant knows their actions are likely to cause serious harm or
death to the victim.
Lt Brian Rice, Officer Garrett Miller and Officer Edward Nero illegally
arrested Gray at 8.40am before finding the lawful knife in Gray's pocket, Mosby
said.
“Rice, 41, is charged with manslaughter, assault and other charges. According to Mosby, he was the first to interact with Gray, by approaching him then chasing him. He faces 10 years or more in jail.
Miller, 26, and Nero, 29, are charged with assault, which carries 10 years, and other charges.-- also reported by O. Mail.
